Pretty great Sunday morning — Kelly and I went for a walk to get some breakfast, then just kinda kept walking. Â By the time we got home, six hours had gone by. Â Not bad for a pregnant woman!

Watched a documentary this evening about sumo wrestling, among other things. Â So when it came time for the sketch, I figured I’d go with a subject that’s rich in unique visuals. Â You’re welcome.

Okay, so back to classwork, and the final installment of the Siegfried story.  After Part 1 and Part 2, the dragon is dead.  Then, as the story goes, the hero bathes in the dragon’s blood to make himself invincible.  That seemed a little much for me, so I went with a somewhat more reserved face-painting.

Yet another frame from this storyboard assignment. Â Sorry, but there are about 50 of these I have to do this week, and I haven’t had much time for other sketches. Â Anyway, in the story flow, this one shortly follows Sketch #338. Â Our drunk thug suddenly shoves the main character into the darkened motel room, where he promptly trips over the bullet-riddled body of the retired cop. Â Nice people doing nice things.

Well, the weekend can’t last forever. Â Back to the storyboard assignments. Â This is another excerpt from the crime story from Sketches 337, 338 and 339. Â (Early in the story, the family man runs into the drunk in the bar, and the latter starts to walk away in the middle of the conversation.)

Just a couple of quick character ideas for a class project.  We’re storyboarding a section of a screenplay that calls for the following: Bill, the retired cop and (spoiler alert!) dead body; Charlie, the thirtysomething family man; and Daryl, the heavyset local drunk/thug-for-hire.  It’s sure to be an upbeat, family-friendly romp.

It finally happened. Â With only a month to go in the Sketch 365 project, I just plain forgot one. Â This is the sketch for February 13, but it was actually done on the 14th, after I woke up and immediately realized that I’d missed my sketch from the day before. Â I thought for a second about just doing an extra sketch and pretending it was from the 13th, but for some reason I couldn’t do it. Â So I went ahead with this creepy big-eyed representation of my early morning pseudo-horror. Â Actually, I’m kind of surprised this didn’t happen sooner (since I had almost forgotten so many times). Â I’m definitely bummed that I turned this one in late, but at least it’s still going to be Sketch 365.

Part 5 — finishing up the assignment for class. Â (Rewind to Sketch #322 to see the whole set.) Â Again, it looks like the idea generation was not happening in a vacuum: there seems to be a lot of linkages among these as well.
So anyway, there’s 30 under the belt. Â Hey, I just got that much closer to my 10,000 drawings!
