Actually, this is just another little thing I’m working on for JPL. I was just trying to get the positioning figured out for a little web graphic.  This wasn’t designed as a sketch for this project, but I’m busy, so it’ll do!

Started sketching some ideas for some badge icons for a NASA/JPL website.  These refer to very specific nerd things, so I won’t be offended if you don’t get them.  They’ll make marginally more sense when all 66(!) are finished.

Now there’s an idea for a companion sketch.  Find an old bucket of earthworms and  draw “bait.”  In fact, why not a series of painfully literal interpretations of basic phrases?  Oh, right, because that would be lame.

Third day in a row of lacking sketch energy.  So I reverted to simple letterforms, but decided to do all the remaining letters, so I won’t be tempted to use this lazy idea again.  As it turned out, this took longer than expected due to having to sort out all the different shading values.  That’s what I get for trying to take the easy route…

Yesterday’s Z was just a very quick and basic sketch because I was so tired.  Same thing ended up happening today, so I reverted to something simple.

The letter Z — soon to be appearing in a speech bubble over my head.  It’s the end of a long travel day at the end of a long week away, and I’m glad to be in my own bed again!

A very long and busy day on this Carlsbad field trip.  Thought I would have a second to sketch during a lunch break by a waterfall.  So I set about drawing this geologist resting by the falls, and this is as far as it got before I was interrupted two or three minutes later to be on to the next thing.  Nice change of scenery from the office though, I’ll admit.  Now to much-needed bed.

I wish the sketch were a little better, but it’s been a long day, so I made it quick.  Anyway, this is a little tip of the cap to Ben and Sean, whose Photo 365 projects helped inspire my own sketch version.  Be sure to check out their great stuff — links over on the right.
