#20 – Remembering Jack McKinney
I like that this project will provide certain souvenirs of events throughout the year. Â Today’s was an important one: a get-together and memorial for Mr. Jack McKinney. Â Huge thanks to the McKinney family for opening their beautiful place for this special night. Â Mr. McKinney will be missed.

#19 – Shapes and shadows
Nothing fancy — just more simple practice stuff. Â The idea here is to define a bunch of different forms using shadow rather than a perspective view. Â Some are a little off, but I think for the most part, the shapes come through. Â I’ll look for something more interesting tomorrow.

#18 – “I love lamp.”
Sketched these in class tonight. Â Asked the instructor for any recommendations. Â He said, “Yeah, you went past the center line on this lamp shade. Â Unforgivable, dude. Â Look at this — this is impossible. Â You see? Â It doesn’t work. Â And this over here wouldn’t look like that. Â There would be more light right here. Â Good though.” Â I like this guy.

#17 – Models, Ink.
#16 – Marker Mosey
My markers were getting away from me a little. Â This is part of another class assignment, practicing perspective and modeling with simple, invented shapes. Â I’m supposed to do several more of these (which is probably good, since I’m obviously kind of a noob with the Copic markers).

#15 – “Family togetherness” or, “Brothers vs. brother”
Just had a fantastic evening with family both immediate and extended. Â It seemed that a sketch of my glass of grappa would make a nice souvenir. Â And even better: one drawn on the back of my placecard, which itself featured papercraft decoration by my 3-year-old brother. Â Young Master Hulme and I now united — comrades in artistic expression — with the mighty firstborn in our sights.
