Just another slice of what my day was like. Â I spent most of the morning behind one of these Panasonic HD cameras, for a live broadcast we were doing at work. Â Fun fact: just one of these things costs significantly more than any car I’ve ever owned.
As a side note: I was really uninspired to draw this evening, and even filled a sketchbook page with drawings I ended up hating. Â They were quick pen drawings done while looking in the mirror (like yesterday’s), but of different facial expressions. Â I was really bored and frustrated with them. Â Then I sat down and got out different paper and some Copic markers (which I hadn’t used in about three weeks). Â Switching up the style and tools made a huge difference. Â Even though I made some frustrating mistakes on this one, I was ultimately much happier with it than the others, and had way more fun doing it.

You used to be cool, Clock. Â You used to, you know, work. Â But now, it’s like you’re stuck in the past, man. Â Like it’s 3:23 p.m. all over again.
What’s that you say? Â Dead battery? Â Lame, bro. Â The clock I remember wouldn’t let a little thing like “a lack of any kind of functional power source” get in the way of our relationship.
Oh, who am I kidding? Â I can’t stay mad at you, lil’ buddy! Â New battery comin’ right up!

A great thrift store find from several years back. This fan-driven wonder emits an unholy honk with every key (after a split-second delay, of course). Or if you listen to the manufacturers:
“Everyone wants a turn when you have a GE Electric Chord Organ in the house! Color-coded music book comes with it. It’ll have you playing chords and melodies in no time at all! Pleasant start to a musical education…for everyone!”

As I was roughing in the early marks of this very quick sketch, the main lines got a little long. Â So now it’s some kind of super-deadly flying x-acto knife. Â Then again, I seem to do a lot of object sketches, which aren’t all that dynamic — so maybe this is a happy accident. Â Until someone puts their eye out.

Third day in a row of lacking sketch energy. Â So I reverted to simple letterforms, but decided to do all the remaining letters, so I won’t be tempted to use this lazy idea again. Â As it turned out, this took longer than expected due to having to sort out all the different shading values. Â That’s what I get for trying to take the easy route…
