#42 – Copout closeout

D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X YThird day in a row of lacking sketch energy.  So I reverted to simple letterforms, but decided to do all the remaining letters, so I won’t be tempted to use this lazy idea again.  As it turned out, this took longer than expected due to having to sort out all the different shading values.  That’s what I get for trying to take the easy route…

#19 – Shapes and shadows

Various shapes pencil shadingNothing fancy — just more simple practice stuff.  The idea here is to define a bunch of different forms using shadow rather than a perspective view.  Some are a little off, but I think for the most part, the shapes come through.  I’ll look for something more interesting tomorrow.

#18 – “I love lamp.”

Sketched these in class tonight.  Asked the instructor for any recommendations.  He said, “Yeah, you went past the center line on this lamp shade.  Unforgivable, dude.  Look at this — this is impossible.  You see?  It doesn’t work.  And this over here wouldn’t look like that.  There would be more light right here.  Good though.”  I like this guy.

#16 – Marker Mosey

Invented plane modelMy markers were getting away from me a little.  This is part of another class assignment, practicing perspective and modeling with simple, invented shapes.  I’m supposed to do several more of these (which is probably good, since I’m obviously kind of a noob with the Copic markers).

#8 – Those Magnificent Men…

BiplaneJust finished this for a class assignment: my second ever attempt at true isometric drawing.  (First one was all kinds of messed up.)  This is the Laird “Super Solution” – apparently the fastest plane in 1931.  Translated to isometric view based on this painting by Nixon Galloway.
