#33 – “I (have mixed feelings about) lamp.”
#31 – Firestorm III: Final Judgment
Okay, seriously — last time with the drill. Â This is the final assignment for the class I’m in. Â Two orthographic sketches, plus one perspective sketch that’s then painted in Photoshop.
Oh, and hey, Hollywood — get to work on the “Firestorm” action trilogy. Â I’ve delivered the titles, now just get one of your typewriter monkeys to churn out a script or two.

#30 – From the “My First Responders†playset
Went to John Beck’s studio tonight for some filming for “Tyranny.” Amidst all the crazy stuff in his place (galvanometers, saxophones, maritime pulleys, you name it…) I spotted this model truck sitting on a shelf. Fit in this quick sketch during breaks in shooting.

#29 – Firestorm II: The Explodening
For my last assignment in this class, I’m returning to the drill from sketch #11. Â This one is just a simple line drawing at the moment, because it’s going to be given a Photoshop paint job. Â Also, I’m including the exploded view with arrow to indicate the detachable chuck feature.

#28 – I am a man of my word.
At the start of this project, I made an important declaration. Â The gauntlet is laid, Miss Gaston.

#27 – Please let me explain…
Okay, I know this looks bad, but here’s the story: we were waiting for a table at Panda Inn, and I needed something to sketch. Â Above the bar hangs a group of masks, of which these are two. Â Unfortunately, when I finished my sketches, I realized they looked not so much like masks as like offensive caricatures. Â That’s why I added the lettering to the right (and this overwrought, apologetic caption).
Actually, I’ve been trying to avoid drawing anything that is itself a representation (like sketching a photo, sculpture, or other piece of art). Â If only I’d stuck to that rule, I never would have drawn these things!

#26 – Sweet ride
I’m no paid spokesperson for Electra, but I can tell you they make a great bike. Â This is Kelly’s townie, which she decked out with super-stylin’ hibiscus flower stickers.

#25 – Nectar of the foul-breathed
I think my sister-in-law was getting tired of all the boring cones and cylinders. Â So she challenged me to do something a little more involved for the last of the Palm Springs product sketches. Â Pretty happy with the shading of this, though I realized when I finished that the proportions are kind of off. Â There’s no way for a coffeemaker with that small a reservoir to fill a pot that size. Â Oh well. Â Pretend you didn’t notice that.

#24 – Look ma, I draw’d a pretty pitcher!
Messed up a few things here — like the handle, and its shadow that shouldn’t actually be visible.  But the rest of the shape reads pretty well.  Still doing more simple product shapes for class.  Actually, this mid-century-modern vacation home in Palm Springs is full of cool, simply shaped, modernist lamps, furniture, etc.  Good place to be working on this kind of assignment.
