#349 – Clenched and ready

SumoWatched a documentary this evening about sumo wrestling, among other things.  So when it came time for the sketch, I figured I’d go with a subject that’s rich in unique visuals.  You’re welcome.

#348 – Kebab factory

LambI didn’t know what to draw this evening, so my helpful wife made a suggestion:  why not do something related to our delicious dinner?

#347 – Jacob

JacobIt seems like forever since I’ve done any live figure drawing. This was done in class this evening, based on one of my Art Center classmates.  An interesting guy, as you can no doubt tell.

#342 – Power up!

PowerupLate tonight I felt like staying up and playing some old 80’s video games — but I still needed a sketch for the day.  First things first.

#341 – Black tie affair

Black tie affairAh, a welcome break from classwork.  After doing dozens of storyboards and other pencil sketches this week, I wanted to do something different.  So here’s a little cut paper version of my sister and brother-in-law on their wedding day.  Done with black construction paper and an X-Acto knife.

#335 – Monochrome mare

ZebraI felt like drawing with a black marker pen, so this seemed as good a subject as any.  Based on a Flickr photo.

#334 – Rough riders

Eadweard Muybridge horsesI was trying to think of something to sketch for today, and for some reason Eadweard Muybridge’s classic horse-in-motion project came into my brain.  I’m pretty useless at drawing animals, so I figure I’d get some practice with some very rough sketches.  Of course, the real test would be to cut this drawing up, animate it, and see how well I did.

#330 – Life on wheels

Again, I’m continuing work on this collection of 30 vehicle sketches.  After drawing these four, I looked at them and realized they actually tell something of a life story.  Hopefully not mine.

Anyway, I did a bunch of other vehicles today as well — here’s the full set.

#329 – Vehicles in vogue

Part of this week’s vehicles series, these are all based on advertisements in recent issues of Wired magazine.  I’m sure if I come back and look at this sketch years from now, it’ll look amazingly dated.

#328 – Rust buckets

New sketching project this week: 30 vehicles of various kinds.  I’m starting out with a couple of oldies, based on Flickr photos (from users RaeA and KB35).
